About the Ngaanyatjarra Council
Welcome to Ngaanyatjarra Lands, a vibrant tapestry of culture and community nestled within the vast beauty of the Australian desert. Home to approximately 2000 Yarnangu (Ngaanyatjarra people) across 11 unique communities, our council is dedicated to preserving and celebrating our rich heritage spanning over 10,000 years and 250,000 square kilometres.
Established in 1981, the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group represents the interests of the Ngaanyatjarra People across the 11 communities in the Central Desert region of Western Australia. Employing in excess of 450 people, NCG provides a wide range of services, including health, utilities, construction, employment, community development, shops, roadhouses, art centres and land services. It is one of the largest and most successful Indigenous organisations in the country.

The Opportunity:
This is a unique opportunity to work as a Project Officer within Ngaanyatjarra Health Service (NHS) on a permanent full time basis. You'll be responsible for coordinating and managing projects, ensuring alignment with NHS strategic goals, tracking milestones, managing risks, and presenting progress reports to internal and external stakeholders. Your role will also involve collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure the successful achievement of project outcomes and contributing to continuous improvement practices within the service.
The position focuses on upholding governance, safety, and quality standards, ensuring compliance with NHS policies and applicable legislation. You'll contribute to creating a culturally safe, family-centered care environment while supporting the delivery of high-quality healthcare services. The role also includes participation in continuous quality improvement activities and the development of sustainable health initiatives, with a focus on efficiency, effectiveness, and the long-term impact of health programs. Your work will help shape the future direction of healthcare delivery in remote communities.
About You:
You are a skilled Project Officer with a proven ability to plan, coordinate, and manage tasks, consistently achieving performance standards and deadlines. With strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities, you can navigate complex environments and effectively support initiatives to success. You thrive in multidisciplinary teams and have a demonstrated ability to foster cooperation and maintain positive relationships at all levels, ensuring the achievement of shared objectives.
Your well-developed communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal, allow you to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, ensuring clear and transparent communication throughout the project lifecycle. You have a solid understanding of change management practices and are able to support and contribute to transformation efforts within healthcare settings. Additionally, you are proficient in using technology, including word processing and data management tools, to streamline processes and improve project outcomes.
With previous experience in healthcare particularly Aged Care you are committed to creating a culturally safe environment and have a deep understanding of Aboriginal culture. You are also willing and able to travel to remote communities as needed, ensuring that your projects are aligned with the needs of those communities.
