About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Family Counsellor to join our Family Skills Team in Narrabundah. This position offers flexibility — available as a full-time or part-time role (minimum 3 days per week), allowing you to balance professional purpose with personal commitments.
In this role, you will provide therapeutic counselling and support to individuals, couples, and families experiencing a range of challenges — including relationship issues, communication difficulties, parenting concerns (pre- and post-separation), and grief and loss.
You will work within a person-centred, evidence-informed framework, offering both individual and group interventions to help clients develop healthier relationships and improve their wellbeing.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting initial assessments and developing case formulations for ongoing counselling.
- Providing therapeutic interventions that align with client needs and program goals.
- Facilitating individual sessions (face-to-face and via telehealth) and group programs.
- Maintaining accurate client records, reports, and data entry.
- Responding to crisis situations and providing critical incident support when required.
- Developing and/or facilitating psycho-educational or therapeutic group programs (training provided).
- Clinicians typically facilitate 5–6 counselling sessions per day, with flexibility depending on group program delivery and client needs.

About You
You're a caring, capable and resilient professional who enjoys supporting families through complex and sensitive issues. You value collaboration, empathy, and professional integrity — and you're motivated by seeing people and families grow stronger together.
To be successful, you will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work or Counselling.
- Registration with AHPRA, or membership with AASW, PACFA, or ACA.
- Demonstrated experience providing individual and family counselling, ideally in post-separation or family relationship contexts.
- Experience working with a range of age groups, including children and young people.
- Strong communication, organisational, and report-writing skills.
- The ability to respond appropriately to crisis situations and complex client presentations.
- Knowledge of child protection, EEO, Work Health & Safety, and Privacy legislation.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in the sector is desirable.
- As a mandated reporter, you will meet all statutory obligations and follow organisational safeguarding policies and procedures.
