- $139,681 - $167, % BDCP + up to 15.4% Superannuation
- Bendigo - VIC, Canberra - ACT
The Role
Director Foundation Geomatics Mission (FGM) leads highly technical teams responsible for planning, producing, managing and disseminating controlled imagery and elevation data and products across Defence networks. The directorate is structured around four core functions: creating high-resolution precise imagery and elevation data to military specifications from 3D imagery, and managing enterprise elevation and imagery content across Defence networks.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge and/or experience in geospatial data production and management, preferably with a Defence background or understanding of geospatial support to military platforms and processes. Awareness or experience in IT and GIS software applications, and the dependencies and integration across geospatial production elements will be a significant advantage. Communication skills are essential to the role, with a heavy schedule of engagements required across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and partners. Collaboration and teamwork are essential, with a high degree of integration with other parts of AGO required to achieve mission outcomes.
Director Foundation Synchronisation & Operations (FSO) is responsible for leading a team designing, implementing, and managing the strategic plans and documents for the Foundation Geospatial (FG) Branch. This includes overseeing the DGRPF planning cycle, ensuring different systems work together smoothly (production interoperability), and providing comprehensive business intelligence to support FG Branch operations. Within FG Branch, the AGO Foundation Synchronisation & Operations Directorate is the main contact for technical support and database management guidance. This includes leading Program and Requirements Management functions.
The Director FSO (D FSO) leads the development of new database solutions and works with external partners to support both the regular annual production schedule and any special projects. D FSO also manages ongoing communication with partners and stakeholders to avoid duplication of production efforts. This includes representing FG Branch at both national and international meetings. Finally, D FSO provides tailored business intelligence, reports, and analytics to help guide decisions across FG Branch.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. For further information, please contact the contact officer.
