What you'll be doing

The Kids Cancer Centre is a large multi-disciplinary department within SCH with internationally respected programs in translational medicine, clinical trials, bone marrow transplantation and neuro-oncology care.

The Associate Genetic Counsellor/Genetic Counsellor will work within the Kids Cancer Centre (KCC), Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick to provide genetic counselling and education of clients, triaging of referrals, organisation of clinics, education of health professionals and the community and promotion of the KCC. The Associate Genetic Counsellor/Genetic Counsellor will also contribute to research in the field of paediatric cancer genetics, including genomic sequencing studies for childhood cancer.

About You

Describe the qualities and attributes of an ideal candidate, followed by specific skills and qualifications.

We're looking for someone who:

• A postgraduate qualification in genetic counselling and/or have attained Board Eligible status to Undertake Certification in genetic counselling from the Human Genetics Society of Australasia (HGSA).
• Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgement commensurate with years of experience.
• Ability to provide a professional level of service whilst working under professional supervision in the Kids Cancer Genetics Clinic.
• Demonstrated participation in quality and workplace education, as well as a commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Demonstrated computer literacy with experience with MS Office, databases, presentation and pedigree drawing software.
