Music tutors at Saint Stephen's College work alongside students to guide, encourage, inspire and motivate them on their musical journey through lessons, home practice and involvement in College ensembles.
Our string music tutors form part of the collaborative team which delivers our Year 3 Strings Program. They work with students of all ages in individual and small group lessons. String music tutors may also take some ensemble rehearsals, direct performances or support other members of the team and their ensembles.
This engagement will commence in Term One 2026.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Continuing to build and deliver our high-quality group and individual lessons
- Implementing a comprehensive and appropriately sequenced learning program for students
- Assisting in the presentation of regular department soirees, concerts, eisteddfod and assembly performances
- Establishing warm and regular communication with students, parents and guardians to ensure participation whilst providing regular direction and feedback
- Performing administrative tasks as required by the Director of Performing Arts

- Relevant qualifications and experience
- A proactive and professional approach that demonstrates initiative, flexibility and a high level of motivation.
- Understanding of the need for confidentiality and the sensitivity of information, while maintaining strong relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Excellent knowledge and experience teaching in a primary and secondary schooling environment
Other
- Demonstrate, follow and support the policies and procedures of the College
- Maintain a degree of flexibility in working hours from time to time
- Accept that the College reserves the right to modify the position
- Comply with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011, codes of practice and other safety guidance material.
Mandatory Clearances/Certifications
- Blue Card, in accordance with 'No Card, No Start law', as per the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000
