Northern Health is seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Neurologist with expertise in Epilepsy to join the Neurology team and Victorian Virtual Specialist Clinics (VVSC).
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our five main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.
About the Role:
- Participate in providing excellent Neurology outpatient care in a virtual setting
- Ensure that patients are given clear and sufficient information upon which to base their decisions
- Ensure the maintenance of high-quality clinical records, including a structured outpatient letter after each clinic encounter
- Be current with new developments in Neurology. To continuously review existing practices and to promote change where required
- Support and assist the Neurology Unit Head in the provision of excellent neurological services at Northern Health, consistent with Northern Health values
Participate in outpatient specialist clinic triaging for Neurology where appropriate to role
Support academic research, education, training & supervision (both medical and nursing undergraduates and postgraduates) roles in the Neurology Unit
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience and up to date knowledge in care of people with epilepsy and first seizures
- Proven ability to provide efficient outpatient consultations using telephone or telehealth platforms
- Demonstrated patient-centred approach to healthcare
- Ability to clearly convey complex health information to patients to maximise their participation in decisions about their care
- Ongoing commitment to excellence in epilepsy care, and to continuous medical education in epilepsy
