About the Role 

We're seeking a dedicated Part-Time Psychologist to join our mental health team at Lavarack Health Centre, Townsville.

• Days & Hours: Thursday & Friday, 07:30 – 16:00
• Setting: Multidisciplinary team supporting the mental health needs of military members

In this role, you will:

• Conduct initial intake and comprehensive assessments for referrals from members, medical teams, and Command
• Apply psychometric tools and deliver evidence-based treatment aligned with your skills and interests
• Manage your own caseload, including oversight of externally referred cases
• Provide crisis intervention, risk assessment, and risk management plans
• Collaborate with an experienced multidisciplinary team

To Be Successful, You Will Have:

• Unconditional, unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Psychologist
• Minimum 2 years post-graduate experience in the last 5 years in mental health (primary or specialist setting)
• Experience in mental health assessment and delivery of Focussed Psychological Strategies (Medicare defined)
• Recent CPD participation as per AHPRA requirements
• Current CPR certification (HLTAID009)
• (Desirable) Knowledge of relevant state/territory policies, national mental health standards, and the ADF Mental Health & Wellbeing Strategy 2018–2023

About Lavarack Health Centre

Lavarack Health Centre is located in Townsville at Lavarack Barracks, the largest Army base in Australia.  It includes the Operational Deployment Force and facilities to undertake mission rehearsal exercises prior to deployment.  The facility provides primary medical, underwater medical, surgical outpatient, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, mental health, and pharmaceutical care to approximately 8000 members.  It also operates a 24/7 inpatient low dependency ward. The standard operating hours of the centre are generally Monday – Friday
