About Us

CSA Mine is one of Australia's longest operating copper mines with a history stretching back almost 150 years. At 1.9 kilometres deep, CSA is the second deepest copper mine in Australia and the third highest copper grade in the world. Located near the NSW town of Cobar, CSA Mine employs around 550 people and produces approximately 40,000 tonnes of copper concentrate per year. The ore is mined and processed on site and then transported by rail 700km to the Port of Newcastle for export.

We are proud to have recently joined Harmony Australasia. Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities. In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project. In Australia, Harmony owns the high-grade CSA copper mine in Cobar, NSW and is currently preparing to progress the Execution Phase of the Eva Copper Mine Project in QLD. These assets are supported by the Harmony Australasia regional corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane.The CSA Mine is located in Cobar NSW and is Australia's highest-grade copper mine.

About the Role:

As Mine Surveyor you will provide accurate and timely surveying services to support underground mining activities. You will play a key role in ensuring that operations run efficiently and safely including:

  • Conduct underground and surface surveys for development, production, and infrastructure projects.
  • Maintain and update mine plans, ensuring compliance with statutory and company requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, geology, and operations teams to deliver survey data and insights.
  • Perform mark-ups for drilling, excavation, and other mining activities.
  • Utilize advanced survey equipment and software to collect, process, and analyze data.
  • Ensure survey activities adhere to safety and environmental standards.

To be a success, you will need:

  • Degree or diploma in surveying or a related field. BOSSI recognised degree and qualified in Mine Surveying or Spatial Sciences will be highly regarded.
  • Previous experience in underground mine surveying.
  • Proficiency in using total stations, GPS, and mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Surpac, or AutoCAD).
  • Current driver's license and relevant Australian working rights.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Conditions:

This position is offered on a residential (preferred) or drive in drive out (DIDO) or fly in fly out (FIFO) from Sydney or Brisbane (Direct Charter) on an 8/6 roster.

If residential is the preferred commute option relocation costs and a housing subsidy will be provided to the successful candidate to assist in relocating to Cobar. Candidates interested in the DIDO or FIFO will be provided with commute single accommodation and meals at the mine camp. CSA also provides Pool & Gym Reimbursements to our employees and their dependants.
