About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and hands-on Diesel Fitter to join their team as a Technician & Trainer. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys both practical mechanical work and sharing their knowledge with others. You'll play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of plant and equipment, while also helping operators and customers build their skills and confidence through practical, on-the-job training.

While this role is predominantly based in Brisbane, some weekday travel to customer sites may be required to deliver training or provide technical support.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Diagnostics & Repairs: Carry out fault finding, servicing, repairs, and maintenance on a range of diesel-powered plant and equipment, ensuring machinery is safe, reliable, and ready for use.
  • Commissioning & Refurbishment: Oversee the commissioning of new equipment and refurbishment of existing machinery to meet operational standards.
  • Training & Support: Deliver hands-on, practical training to customers and operators, focusing on safe and effective equipment use. No formal training qualifications are required—just the ability to communicate clearly and a genuine interest in helping others learn.
  • Customer Liaison: Work directly with customers to resolve technical issues, answer queries, and provide ongoing support.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all service work and training delivered.
  • Safety Leadership: Promote and uphold a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all workplace health, safety, and environmental policies.

What We're Looking For

  • Trade qualification as a Diesel Fitter or similar.
  • Solid experience in plant and machinery maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in a clear, approachable way.
  • A proactive, customer-focused attitude and a willingness to help others succeed.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Current driver's license.
  • Willingness to travel for short periods during the week as required.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience delivering informal or on-the-job training to others.
  • Familiarity with Tesmec equipment or similar plant machinery.
