ABOUT THE ROLE

We provide care and support to participants with complex health needs, including mental health, challenging behaviours and high-intensity support needs.

The Disability Support worker /Enrolled Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe and effective nursing care, under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN).

This is not agency work. You'll be supporting our participants in the comfort and familiarity of their homes. This role is about more than clinical care—it's about building relationships, uplifting others, and being a trusted presence in someone's life.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (depending on qualifications & participant requirements):

  • Adhere to positive behaviour support plans & implementing documented strategies to best support positive outcomes for the participant.
  • Assist with high intensity support needs: peg feeding, seizure management and complex communication needs.
  • Attend to personal cares, medication administration and relevant high-intensity support requirements.
  • Support participants with daily supports including light domestic tasks, transport, meal preparation, companionship.
  • Approach complex situations with calm, compassion, and professionalism—your presence can be a powerful source of reassurance.
  • Use encouragement and motivation to support participants to independence and other personal goals.
  • Work closely with your fellow team members to create a smooth, stable, and positive service environment as a team player. If a colleague needs help, lend a hand. We've got each other's backs.
  • Complete required documentation, including shift notes, incident reports and data collections via in-house support charts, and contribute to the development, modification & evaluation of Participant Care Plans.
  • Build strong rapport with participants and stakeholders.
  • Attend to medical emergencies & provide first aid as required.

  • Have a positive can-do attitude, with the ability to focus on a holistic approach to support, encompassing a wellbeing and clinical lens within your support framework.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE

  • Current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse with no restrictions (ENs)
  • AHPRA registration is required only for Enrolled Nurse applicants and not for Disability Support Worker applicants
  • Relevant nursing qualifications for EN roles
  • Applicants must have either Cert III qualification or significant disability support experience, with both options being acceptable
  • Work a rotating roster with a willingness to work night duty (if required) including inactive and active sleepovers
  • Lived or worked experience supporting participants with complex health, mental health and positive behaviour support plan implementation
  • Excellent technological, communication and time management skills
  • First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Relevant compliance checks, including NDIS Worker Screening Check & Blue Card
  • Driver's license and own vehicle
