About the Role

This is a newly created role in our East Tamar Workshop. Reporting to the Rollingstock Asset Manager, you will be one of three team leaders in a large workshop environment. Leading a small team you will share responsibility for ensuring works are conducted, safely, efficiently in accordance with appropriate standard and work instructions. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day maintenance activities and ensuring resources are adequately allocated. You will handle the leadership and administration whilst still utililising you technical skills in a hands on capacity.

About you

To be a success in this role you will be appropriately trade qualified for large scale machinery and have proven leadership skills. You will combine high level technical skills and people management to lead your team to success. As someone who is capable of ensuring the quality of completed works you will make sure all works are done to the highest possible standard.

Key responsibilities/Accountabilities (include but not limited too)

Trade qualified (heavy vehicle, electrical or machine operations) understanding of the nature of rolling stock maintenance :

  • Actively participate in Rollingstock maintenance and fault-finding tasks in accordance with individually held trade qualifications and competencies (as required).
  • Be directly accountable for the quality of maintenance works and perform regular quality inspections
  • Maintain knowledge and records of equipment, contractors and suppliers associated with maintenance activities.
  • Actively set clear expectations and provide regular feedback to team members to reinforce a positive culture.
  • Supervision and allocation of daily work schedules for teams and contractors
  • Actively implement and promote Continuous Improvement Initiatives.
