Star Hotels Group is continuing to grow rapidly and have an opportunity for a new member of the IT Support team to join us on the ride. Star is Queensland's largest independent hotel group with more than 50 accommodation sites and pubs, and a leading retail liquor operator with 115 liquor outlets.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise—particularly in network administration and IT infrastructure support—along with a can-do attitude, high attention to detail, and a customer service mindset. The position will be based in our Support Office in Brisbane, where you will be welcomed and well supported by the rest of our team.

The Role

As an IT Systems & Network Support Specialist (Level 2/3), you will play a key role in maintaining and optimising Star's network and IT infrastructure across all sites. As part of IT Services team, you will provide advanced technical support, troubleshoot network and IT systems issues, and ensure the stability, security, and performance of our IT environment.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in network administration who enjoys working in a dynamic, multi-site environment. You will gain hands-on experience supporting a large hospitality and retail network while driving continuous improvement in our IT operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced onsite and remote support for network, systems, and infrastructure issues across all Star locations.
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi, VPNs, IT / POS Equipment) to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Troubleshoot equipment connectivity issues, manage network outages, and implement proactive monitoring and maintenance practices.
  • Assist with the deployment of new sites, including setup of network infrastructure, POS systems, servers, and telephony.
  • Collaborate with the wider IT team and managed service providers to deliver seamless service and resolve escalated issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, procedures, and resolutions; contribute to the IT knowledge base.
  • Support end-user training on IT/network best practices and security awareness.
  • Participate in infrastructure upgrade projects, system rollouts, and security enhancements.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience in IT support with a strong focus on network administration and IT infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with network technologies (LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPNs, firewalls, switches, routers).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows environments, Microsoft 365, and common business applications including POS systems.
  • Familiarity with IT ticketing systems, remote support tools, and network monitoring platforms.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • A customer-first attitude and the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in retail/hospitality multi-site networks (preferred).
