The McDonald College is an independent, non-denominational, co-educational K – 12 school located in North Strathfield.
We specialise in performing arts and elite sports, with an equal focus on academic rigour. Performance streams include Acting, Classical Ballet, Dance, Music, Musical Theatre, Technical Production and Elite Tennis.

Position: Secondary TAS Teacher
Employment Type: Part-Time FTE days/week – Tuesday and Friday)
Start Date: Week 5 Term 1 (Monday 23 February) 2026
Reports To: Principal, delegated to Head of Visual Arts and TAS
About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a NESA qualified Teacher of TAS from Year 6 – 10 with passion and commitment, creating an effective and challenging learning environment with high expectations of students.
We are looking for an enthusiastic educator to join our dynamic and caring team.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and committed educator with a deep passion for TAS and a willingness to teach Stage 3 Creative Arts, Stage 4 and Stage 5 TAS classes. They will be highly motivated to ensure inspirational engagement with and the continued academic achievement of our students in Years 6 – 10.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and implement creative and well sequenced teaching and learning programs that engage and challenge students, promote learning and have high expectations of each student.
- Have an in-depth knowledge of the Stage 3 Creative Arts, Stage 4 and Stage 5 TAS syllabuses.
- Maintain teaching programs, registers, and other appropriate assessment records as required by the College.
- Use a range of teaching strategies to deliver quality teaching that engages and challenges students.
- Be responsive to student learning styles by differentiating teaching and learning delivery.
- Demonstrate a passion for and experience in assisting students to achieve learning outcomes to the best of their ability.
- Use continuous assessment and constructive feedback to inform teaching practices personally and within the department.
- Work collaboratively within the faculty and across all support systems in the College for the benefit of student learning.
- Engage in constructive, positive and meaningful communication with parents / carers in a timely manner.
- Provide regular, meaningful feedback to students and write constructive, positive student reports that reflect a deep understanding of each student and their learning continuum.
- Adhere to deadlines.
- Perform wellbeing and playground duties as required.
- Attend all mandatory College functions such as but not limited to Speech Night, Sports Carnivals, Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences, Information Sessions.
- Participate in and contribute to the College's Professional Development Program.

- Maintaining records as required for NESA Registration and Accreditation processes in accordance with the College guidelines.
- Inspiring an ongoing passion and motivation in students.
- Inspiring students for success in HSC examinations, external competitions and for life.
- Managing time effectively.
- Sensitive handling of parental expectations, particularly where these are unrealistic in consultation with the Head of TAS.
Workplace Health & Safety
- Take reasonable care of your own health and safety while at work and beyond.
- Manage risk and compliance through CompliSpace by reporting all incidents or hazards that may cause injury or illness, and any damage or maintenance requirements affecting the safety of the workplace.
- Comply with all College policies and standards and any reasonable instruction from your manager in relation to WHS.
- Participate in occupational rehabilitation programs as necessary.
- Support the emotional and social wellbeing of colleagues.
Essential Criteria

- A current Working With Children Check.
- Completed Child Safe Applicant Declaration.
- You must advise the Principal prior to employment of any matter that would affect your employment or the reputation of the College.
For This Role
- Have completed tertiary studies* in an area relevant to this position and hold a NESA recognised teaching qualification.
- Be a NESA registered teacher.
- *Applications are welcome from final year university students studying towards a teaching qualification or graduates with provisional registration.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise successfully with colleagues, students and parents.
