At Xplor, we believe that helping people make the most of each day is the most rewarding way to spend ours.
We give small and medium-sized businesses cloud-based, intuitive technology solutions that enable them to manage all the hassles of running and growing a business, so business owners can get back to doing what they love. With Xplor Pay, we help businesses get paid quickly and securely – without hidden fees. We built the tech ourselves, and our platform delivers secure, transparent, fast, and accurate payments.
We are unified by our purpose of helping people to succeed. So, when you become part of our team, you also become part of the personal connection that strengthens the relationship people have with Xplor products.
Job DescriptionAbout the opportunity
Reporting into the Director of Product Design, you'll join the design team focused on Xplor Gym, our all-in-one platform that helps gyms and fitness businesses manage everything from memberships and scheduling to payments and customer engagement. In this role, you will set direction, drive design quality, and elevate the impact of design across Xplor Gym. You will collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders to shape strategy, craft end-to-end experiences, and ensure our solutions meet both user and business needs.
You will be part of a talented team of eight designers working across different software products within Xplor. This gives you the opportunity to collaborate, mentor, and influence design culture. As a lead, you will not only own high-impact work within Xplor Gym, but also guide others in raising the design bar and shaping how design contributes to the company's vision.
Some of the other responsibilities include :
- Shape product strategy by identifying, defining, and reframing complex product problems, ensuring teams are solving the right things.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and stakeholders to align design direction with business impact and customer value.
- Produce high-quality designs that leverage Apollo and contribute to its evolution through new components and standards.
- Lead discovery and research initiatives by planning, conducting, and synthesizing insights to ground product decisions in evidence.
- Craft compelling design narratives that build alignment with executives, clients, and cross-functional teams.
- Confidently present and defend design decisions, balancing user insights with business needs.
- Drive outcomes by anticipating risks, unblocking teams, and ensuring projects achieve measurable success beyond launch.
- Manage designers' performance and growth through goal setting, feedback, and development planning, fostering a strong and accountable design culture.
- Facilitate critiques, workshops, and rituals that promote collaboration and raise the quality of work across the team.
- Influence hiring decisions and help shape the long-term vision of the Membr design team at Xplor.
We kindly request that all applicants include a link to their website or submit a portfolio showcasing their design work or completed projects. Please ensure that any required access credentials, such as passwords or login details, are also provided.
For this position, we offer a hybrid and flexible working model, where you will spend 2 days per week in the office and the rest working from home.
QualificationsWhat would make me a good candidate?
We are looking for curious and empathetic people. We also love to hear from people who are motivated by meaningful work, resonate with our four core values, have a positive outlook, are comfortable with ambiguity and thrive working in an ever-evolving and complex environment. We are inspired by meeting big picture thinkers and doers, people who can be both tactical and strategic, aim high and put people first in everything they do.
Required qualifications for this role :
- A strong portfolio showcasing UX and visual design expertise across web and mobile platforms
- 7+ years of product design experience, ideally in SaaS or fast-growing tech environments
- Past management experience leading and developing designers through mentoring, career growth, and performance management
- Proven ability to lead large-scale, complex projects end-to-end from discovery and research through launch and iteration
- Deep expertise in user-centered design with strong research skills and the ability to use data and feedback to shape strategy
- Advanced proficiency in design systems including evolving, scaling, and ensuring consistency and quality across components and standards
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills with the ability to present, frame, and defend design decisions to stakeholders, executives, and cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguity by setting direction, managing risk, and driving measurable outcomes without close direction
- Experience influencing hiring, shaping team structures, and building long-term design culture and vision
At Xplor, we believe that the best innovation and ideas happen at the intersections of our differences - people of diverse cultures, generations, disciplines, and lived experiences. So even if you think you do not tick all the boxes, we still encourage you to apply.
