ABOUT US

Gateway Health is a community health service providing health and welfare services to individuals, families and communities across Northeast Victoria and parts of Southern New South Wales. We are a not-for-profit Company limited by guarantee and a registered Community Health Service under the Health Services Act 1988 (Vic).

The organisation employs over 380 staff providing a range of primary health and community services across the Ovens Murray region in Northeast Victoria and parts of Southern New South Wales. Gateway Health serves all people and is committed to improving individual and population health outcomes. We do this by providing health care and support to individuals and communities in times of need, and by actively working with our partners to address the social and environmental determinants of health.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're seeking a passionate and community-minded professional to lead the delivery of a CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) inclusion project at headspace. This role is all about building strong relationships, increasing cultural safety, and improving access to mental health services for young people and families from CALD backgrounds.

Working closely with local organisations, schools, and communities, you'll co-design culturally responsive programs, provide support and training to our team, and act as a visible, trusted contact point for CALD young people accessing headspace. You'll also drive the implementation of a multi-year grant project focused on cultural inclusion, coordinate the translation of key resources, and embed inclusive practices into every layer of our service.

We strongly encourage applicants who are part of the local CALD community and/or have lived experience of navigating services across cultures and languages. Knowledge of local language groups, cultural customs, and community strengths will be highly valued and central to your success in the role.

The role is dynamic and varied, combining project coordination, community engagement, partnership building, and capacity development. You'll be supported by a collaborative team, and your work will directly shape a more inclusive, safe, and welcoming service for all young people.

If you're committed to cultural inclusion, community partnerships, and empowering diverse voices, we'd love to hear from you.

headspaceis the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds, along with assistance in promoting young peoples' wellbeing ).

ABOUT YOU

You're passionate about working alongside young people and communities, bringing curiosity, respect, and an inclusive approach to everything you do. You understand cultural safety, the impact of stigma, and the importance of bridging services and community in ways that feel relevant and accessible.

You may have formal qualifications or experience in fields like social work, community development, public health, peer work, or youth engagement, or you might bring equally valuable community or cultural leadership, lived experience, or advocacy. You're committed to learning and can quickly build an understanding of the Australian mental health system, service navigation, and mental health promotion. Above all, you have a strong drive to amplify diverse voices and strengthen community connections.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Strong engagement skills with young people, families, and community groups, including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and act as a connector between community and services.
  • Experience in delivering or supporting community-based programs, workshops, or outreach activities.
  • Confidence in adapting communication styles to suit diverse cultural contexts and audiences.
  • Commitment to co-design and collaborative approaches that centre community voices.
  • Ability to manage priorities and work flexibly across community and service settings.
