About the role
We're seeking an experienced Industrial Sewing Machinist to join our Curtain and Soft Furnishings team at Lighthouse Furnishings' manufacturing facility in Seventeen Mile Rocks, Queensland. This is a part-time role with flexible hours, offering the opportunity to apply your technical sewing skills and expertise to the production of high-quality custom curtains and soft furnishings.
What you'll be doing
- Operating industrial sewing machines to assemble and construct curtains, cushions, and other soft furnishing items to client specifications
- Cutting, measuring, and preparing fabric and materials for sewing projects
- Finishing products by completing tasks such as hemming, overlocking, and applying trims and accessories
- Maintaining a clean and organised workstation to ensure productivity and quality standards
- Collaborating with the design and production teams to resolve any technical issues
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes
What we're looking for
- Proven experience as an Industrial Sewing Machinist or similar role in the curtain and soft furnishings industry
- Strong technical sewing skills and the ability to operate a variety of industrial sewing machines
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately to specifications
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Familiarity with curtain and soft furnishings construction techniques and materials
- Strong time management and organisational skills to ensure efficient production
- Someone who can handle block out fabrics
