Salary: $110K + Superannuation

Overview:

This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced Electrician to live and work on the pristine Lindeman Island in the Whitsundays. The successful candidate will be responsible for all electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs across the island, supporting ongoing projects and infrastructure. This role demands a proactive individual with advanced electrical knowledge, exceptional diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities, and a proven track record of working effectively in remote locations.

Key Responsibilities:

· Electrical Systems Installation and Maintenance:

o Install, maintain, and repair single-phase and three-phase electrical systems (240V and 415V).

o Work with power generation systems, including generators and associated switchgear.

o Install, maintain, and troubleshoot ring main systems.

o Install, maintain, and troubleshoot step-up and step-down transformers.

o Perform switching operations on electrical systems.

· Control Systems:

o Install, maintain, and troubleshoot low-voltage control systems (12V, 24V, and 36V).

o Work with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Energy Management Systems (EMS).

· Diagnostics and Troubleshooting:

o Serve as the primary point of contact for all electrical issues on the island.

o Employ advanced diagnostic techniques and equipment to identify and resolve complex electrical problems.

o Develop and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and ensure the reliable operation of all electrical systems.

· Standards and Compliance:

o Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant Australian and international standards, including:

§ AS/NZS 3000:2018 (Wiring Rules)

§ AS/NZS 3760:2010 (In-service safety inspection and testing of electrical equipment)

§ AS/NZS 1680 series (Interior Lighting)

§ National Electrical Code (NEC)

§ NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code)

· Remote Location Expertise:

o Apply prior experience working in remote locations to effectively manage electrical challenges specific to an island environment.

o Demonstrate resourcefulness and problem-solving skills in situations with limited access to immediate support or resources.

Qualifications and Experience:

· Essential:

o Unrestricted Electrician's license.

o Extensive experience with single-phase and three-phase systems (240V and 415V).

o Solid understanding of power generation, ring main systems, step-up/step-down transformers, and switching.

o Proven expertise in low-voltage control systems (12V, 24V, 36V), BMS, and EMS.

o Exceptional diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.

o Thorough knowledge of AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3760, AS/NZS 1680, NEC, and NFPA 70.

o Demonstrated experience working in remote locations.

o Ability to read and interpret complex electrical diagrams and schematics.

o Valid driver's license.

o Queensland Electrical Work Licence.

o HV and HA Accreditation.

o Current 'C' class Driver's Licence.

o Demonstrated experience within the maintenance industry.

o Current CPR/LVR certification.

o Construction White Card.

o Able to work with minimal supervision.

o 5 + years' experience in a Field Service Role or similar is desirable.

o Proven ability to perform detailed fault finding on complex control systems with strong attention to detail, problem solving and a high level of accuracy.

o Experience with marine electronic systems.

o Experience with solar power, battery and inverter systems.
