We support over 1.6 million people across our region, with a focus on aged care, mental health, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, digital health, and workforce development.

What You'll Do

As our Health Data Scientist, you'll turn complex health data into actionable insights that make a real difference for priority populations. You'll lead advanced analytics projects, modernise our systems, and make data tell the story for SEMPHN's priority populations.

  • Predict & Model: Build predictive models to spot health trends, forecast outcomes, and guide service needs.

  • Visualise What Matters: Create eye-catching dashboards, GIS maps, and reports (Power BI, DAX) that make data easy to get.

  • Big Data, Big Impact: Extract, transform, and analyse data with SQL, Python, R, and cloud platforms (Azure, Databricks), while modernising pipelines and reports.

  • Ensure Data Quality: Ensure datasets are accurate, compliant, and ready for action with rigorous validation processes.

  • Turn Insights into Action: Translate data into clear recommendations that guide program managers and decision-makers.

  • Lead Analytics Projects: Manage projects end-to-end, delivering high-quality insights on time

  • Collaborate for Impact: Partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders to create practical, data-driven solutions, boosting data literacy across the organisation.

About You

  • You've got tertiary back knowledge in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, or a related field.

  • You're a data Wizard who knows their way around SQL, Python, R, and cloud platforms, and love turning raw data into actionable insights.

  • You're a curious, detail-oriented, analytical thinker who spot patterns that others miss.

  • Power BI, GIS maps, dashboards… you're a visual storyteller who can make complex health data easy to understand.

  • You can manage competing priorities, own projects end-to-end, and deliver on time, like the project pro you are.

  • You thrive in a collaborative team, love sharing knowledge, and help others level up their data skills.

  • You're a communication extraordinaire, translating complex findings into simple, actionable advice for all audiences.

  • Bonus points if you've got experience in primary health, health improvement initiatives, or working with diverse populations.
