Job Title: Employment Lawyer – Associate Level
Location: Bondi Junction, NSW
Job Type: Full-Time Position
Salary: $120,000 - $160,000 (inclusive of super) Dependent upon experience
Overview:
We are seeking an Employment Lawyer at Associate level to join the growing employment and commercial practice at Hitch Advisory. Based in our Bondi Junction office, this is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer with 3–5 years post-admission experience in employment law and some exposure to commercial advisory work.
The role involves acting for a diverse range of employers—ranging from SMEs to national brands—across a broad spectrum of workplace matters. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical grounding, a commercial mindset, and a proactive approach to client service. While the focus is on employment law, commercial experience is highly regarded.
This position is well suited to a self-motivated practitioner who enjoys autonomy, values collaboration, and is looking to progress their career within a forward-thinking, client-focused legal team.
Key Responsibilities:

Employment Law Advisory: Advise clients on award interpretation, contracts, workplace policies, restructures, terminations, and employment compliance.

Dispute Management: Assist with employment disputes, unfair dismissal claims, general protections applications, and enterprise bargaining matters.

Workplace Investigations: Conduct or support independent investigations into allegations of misconduct, bullying, harassment, and WHS breaches.

Employment Agreements & Policies: Draft and negotiate employment contracts, contractor agreements, restraint clauses, and workplace policies.

HR & Compliance Training: Assist in the delivery of training to clients on HR compliance, risk mitigation, and best practice employment management.

Commercial Support: Contribute to commercial matters such as shareholder agreements, services agreements, and general business structuring.

Client Engagement: Maintain strong client relationships through responsive service, strategic advice, and practical solutions.

Knowledge Sharing: Support and collaborate with colleagues by sharing knowledge and contributing to team learning.
Key Requirements:
-
3–5 years post-admission experience in employment and workplace relations law
-
NSW practising certificate in good standing
-
Solid experience advising employers on day-to-day workplace issues
-
Excellent drafting skills and attention to detail
-
Ability to manage files independently and meet deadlines
-
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-centric approach

Confidence in advocating for clients in Fair Work Commission and other tribunals (advocacy experience highly valued)
Desirable:
-
Exposure to commercial contracts and advisory work

Experience with employment issues in retail, hospitality, or franchising sectors

Familiarity with whistleblower frameworks, privacy obligations, or modern slavery compliance

Existing network or potential for business development will be well regarded
