Mechanical Engineer

Your new role:

Engineering at Micro-X encompasses the development of core technology tubes and high voltage generators, the manufacturing and test systems to produce the core technology, development of mechanical, electrical and software solutions for Micro-X's product lines, and contracted development for bespoke customer imaging subsystems. The Engineering team is a multi-discipline team covering many areas of mechanical, electronics, high voltage, operating software, imaging software, applied maths, physics and chemistry. The team has a range of skills and experience from interns to Principal engineers. To support focused development, Micro-X Engineering has dedicated system engineering and technical project leads to manage programs.

Responsibilities

:

·    Delivery of mechanical engineering designs for Micro-X projects, including planning and developing solutions for mechanical systems, sub-systems and components.

·    Design for assembly, manufacture, serviceability, environment / sustainability, functional performance and safety compliance.

·    Problem-solving and engineering analysis, including analytical, numerical (e.g. structural and thermal analysis) and experimental approaches.

·     Planning and implementation of test plans for functional and reliability testing.

·     Sustaining support, cost reduction and customer support as necessary.

·     Contribution to the Micro-X development process and support for best practice tools implementation.

·     Collaborative design work with cross-functional teams, including electronics, software, and systems teams.

·      Relationship management and technical program guidance for external design partners and suppliers.

·      Generation of design documents for regulatory submissions.

·      Input into development program project schedules and budgets.

·      Ensuring engineering standards of quality, cost, safety, timeliness and performance are maintained.

·      Configuration management of design outputs and adherence to the change management process adherence.

·      Adherence to and improvements to the Micro-X quality system.

·      Liaising with customers, marketing, manufacturing, service teams and other stakeholders to drive customer-centric solutions.

·      Promoting and growing the Micro-X culture.

·      Brand and advocacy for Micro-X and NEX technology.

What you'll need to succeed:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Mechatronics engineering equivalent suitable for membership of Engineers Australia.
• 1 – 3 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proficiency in Mechanical Design principles and Design for Manufacture and Assembly DFMA, particularly in CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and injection moulding.
• Hands-on experience in technical problem-solving.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and 2D drafting, preferably using SolidWorks and PDM.
• Knowledge of GD&T and technical drawing standards.
• Experience in thermal and structural analysis using FEA and/or CFD simulation.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with personnel at different levels and from various disciplines.
• Ability to contribute and work in a cross-functional team.
• Proven ability in personnel oversight, encompassing the management of external contractors and collaborators.

The below will be highly regarded:

• Proficiency in product development, particularly in the design and development of complex medical, automotive, security or consumer products.
• Fast prototyping skills with low-cost manufacturing techniques.
• Demonstrated experience in navigating dynamic and fluid work environments.
• Demonstrated proficiency in managing the complete product life cycle, spanning from initial conceptualization to the delivery of the final product.
