Inter/intrastate Driver

Do you have a passion for motorcycles?  Do you love driving?  Then this is the job for you This is a unique opportunity to work as an interstate operator / driver for one of Australia's leading motorcycle transport companies.  No, we don't do courier deliveries on motorbikes…we actually move motorbikes in trucks/vans for both corporate and private customers  Similar to a car transport company…but for bikes.  You will be required to pick up and deliver motorcycles in Victoria, New South Wales, ACT, and South East Queensland and service our depots in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. You may be diverted to other areas of Australia as required.

• We are looking for a full time interstate operator / driver to join our professional team
• You will be based in Melbourne working Sun-Thur to complete a weekly run Melb - Syd - Bris - Syd - Melb with multiple pickups and deliveries along the way. There may be weeks when your run days are varied to suit customer demand however these are rare, what we value is your reliability week in week out
• You may be required to do a shorter week from time to time to service our South Australian Customers
• 5+ years driving experience is mandatory
• MUST have full motorcycle license
• A Heavy Rigid or Heavy Combination license is most desirable in keeping with our future plans to expand. Although the current minimum is a Medium Rigid license. All applicants will be evaluated on route knowledge
• You MUST know how to handle motorcycles and have a passion for motorcycles
• Manual pushing of motorcycles is required - so you must be physically fit and able to handle/push bikes which sometimes weigh 300kg or more  But NOTE:  all our trucks are configured with tail lifers
• Ability to work autonomously and think on your feet
• Training provided for the right candidate
• Truck with Sleeper + mobile or allowance provided.
• You will be paid at the cents/km rate as per the relevant award, and paid award rates when picking up or delivering motorcycles and unloading or reloading in depots.  All other allowances as per the award will be provided.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced interstate operator / driver to join our growing company working in the niche industry of transporting motorcycles.  Your run will be compiled by our Admin team and sent to you at the end of the week prior allowing you to manage your load strategy, load and be ready to depart for the next week. You will manage your time to complete the tasks safely and communicate with customers directly to arrange pickups and deliveries along the route. Our Admin team supplies customers with a 2 or 3 day window. You narrow that window to 2 hours by communicating with customers the day before. Everybody understands it is road transport and nothing can be set in stone - communication is key to this role. Additions to the run do occur if you are not already full and your willingness to help is appreciated and your judgement is highly respected. You will report directly to the Company owners

Duties & responsibilities

• Pickup and delivery of motorcycles
• Manually pushing and strapping down motorbikes securely in vehicle
• Multiple locations to drop off and pickup
• Completing concise consignment reports and taking photos of every motorcycle, Attention to detail is a must
• Clear and professional communication with customers in relation to collection and delivery
• Operate safely within established NHVR rules

Skills & experience

• MUSThave a minimum 5 years with full driving license
• MUSThave a full motorcycle license
• MUST have MR license or higher
• MUST have VicRoads Driver report or willingness to obtain one
• Ability to manually handle motorcycles
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work autonomously

You must be available for training with our company owner upon signing of contract.  Looking for a start within the next 1-3 weeks.
