Description

  • Manage key supplier and Member relationships across WA's Local Government Sector
  • Lead contract performance, engagement and continuous program improvement
  • Enjoy a sector-leading 6 weeks' annual leave

Ready for a fresh challenge in 2026? This role puts you at the heart of WA's Local Government sector where you'll build strong relationships, shape high value supplier contracts, and contribute directly to the success of WALGA's Preferred Supplier Program.

If you're proactive, thrive on collaboration and want your work to make a real difference, this is the opportunity for you.

WALGA is seeking a relationship focused and commercially minded Contract Manager Commercial Management to help lead key supplier and Member engagement activities across the Preferred Supplier Program (PSP).

This is a hands on role that offers a nice mix of in office work with the occasional opportunity to travel across WA. You'll combine strong contract management capability with genuine stakeholder engagement, supporting Local Governments across Western Australia and fostering the trusted supplier relationships that underpin the success of the PSP.

You'll work closely with Members and Preferred Suppliers to ensure contract expectations are met, performance is monitored, and opportunities for improvement or innovation are identified. You'll also play a key role in shaping contract reviews, analysing performance data, contributing to program development, and supporting the growth of WALGA's commercial initiatives.

What could a typical week look like?
One Day You Might Be

  • Visiting a regional Local Government to understand their procurement needs and provide practical PSP support.
  • Reviewing usage trends and panel performance to identify opportunities for improvement or preparing for an upcoming contract review to ensure documentation and compliance remain up to date.

The Next, You'll Be

  • Working directly with WALGA Preferred Suppliers, resolving issues, supporting reporting requirements, or coordinating engagement activities that strengthen relationships.
  • Collaborating with the Commercial Development Team to explore new ideas, respond to market trends, or enhance existing PSP offerings.

Let's Talk About You.
You're someone who genuinely enjoys building meaningful relationships with a wide range of people, someone who values collaboration, connection, and the impact that trusted partnerships can have across a sector.

You Bring Demonstrated Capability In

  • Contract management, including analysis, compliance oversight, and performance monitoring.
  • Stakeholder and supplier engagement, with an ability to navigate diverse expectations and drive positive outcomes.
  • Problem solving and negotiation, especially where interests differ or priorities need alignment.
  • Understanding and interpreting commercial contracts in a practical, accessible way.

You're proactive and curious, enjoy getting out from behind the desk and you're motivated by innovation and continuous improvement. You like taking ownership of your projects, but you're equally comfortable working alongside others to deliver shared goals.

Experience with Local Government, procurement, or CRM systems is a bonus, but not essential.
A current Western Australian class 'C' license is required as travel, sometimes including regional, forms an important part of this role.
Why you'll love working here
Employees have the opportunity to work on unique and meaningful projects that deliver real benefits to Local Governments and the communities they serve. We foster a culture of positive risk-taking, guided by one of our strategic pillars Explore, and underpinned by our value of Curiosity.

Our workplace encourages a spirit of enquiry and an innovation mindset. We're proud to offer benefits that genuinely make a difference. At WALGA, you'll enjoy six weeks of annual leave plus an extra day off on the anniversary of when you started, because your journey with us is worth celebrating. Our Thrive wellbeing program runs all year and is designed to support every aspect of wellbeing. Mental, physical, and social through education, resources, and practical initiatives.

We're committed to helping you grow, both personally and professionally, and we're driving a tech roadmap that's shaping a data-led future. There are plenty of ways to get involved too, with cross-organisational working groups such as Reconciliation, Artificial Intelligence, and Sustainability.

And that's just the start. You'll also find an active social club run by employees, flexible working options, fantastic end-of-trip facilities, and a modern office designed for collaboration.

We're proud to be recognised as a Menopause Friendly Australia employer, because creating an inclusive workplace matters to us.
