About the role

The Middle Office Lead plays a key role within the Middle Office of Cbus' Investments team, which exists to support the Fund's strategic goal of further investment internalisation and increased product sophistication. 

This newly created role will be responsible for leading a growing team within the Middle Office that is primarily responsible for supporting OTC and ETD trading activity and collateral management. These derivatives cover a range of instruments including swaps, options and futures across equities, fixed income and foreign exchange. The incumbent will also need to understand and assist with other critical tasks within the broader Middle Office team including liquidity management and trade lifecycle support for cash, fixed income and equities including corporate actions.

The Middle Office Lead collaborates with the Investments team on internalisation projects and other optimisation initiatives across the investment portfolio, including build out of the collateral management framework and systems capability, processes and procedures to support the portfolio management and trade life cycle of OTC instruments. 

To be a success in this new role you will need;

• Strong experience with functions and processes associated with collateral management including exchange of variation margin, pledging/substitution of initial margin, calculation of initial margin requirements, trade reconciliations and dispute management;
• Previous experience in a Middle Office role within a superannuation fund or investment management company
• People leadership experience is essential;
• Good understanding of legal documentation associated with collateral including Credit Support Annexes (CSA's), Credit Support Deeds (CSD's) and industry wide platforms such as Acadia, TriResolve and TriOptima;
• Sound investment, financial market & product knowledge, particularly in investment operations at an institutional level and able to demonstrate and apply proven knowledge of various middle office, custodian roles, investment implementation and operations functions.
