Mackay Regional Council is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead its newly established ICT Steering Committee as Chair. This is a paid external appointment offering a unique opportunity to influence the strategic direction of ICT across council operations.

About the Role

The ICT Steering Committee brings together key stakeholders from across council to guide ICT strategy, assess major projects, and ensure alignment with business priorities. As Chair, you'll provide independent leadership and expert oversight to help grow the council's ICT capability.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Leading quarterly committee meetings and ensuring effective governance.
  • Overseeing ICT strategy implementation and alignment with council plans.
  • Acting as the Change Advisory Board (CAB) for major ICT initiatives.
  • Evaluating business cases and monitoring ICT investments for value and impact.
  • Supporting innovation, including adoption of emerging technologies like AI.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation, timely resolution of action items, and annual performance self-assessments.

About You

We're looking for someone with:

  • Proven leadership experience in ICT governance or strategic advisory roles.
  • Strong understanding of ICT project oversight, risk management, and innovation.
  • Independence from council operations to ensure impartiality.
