A Snapshot

As Associate Commercial Director, Developments, you will report to the Senior Director, Commercial Developments and work closely with various teams and leadership across the Asia Pacific region, making your mark in a number of ways:

  • Partner with senior management to establish the strategic commercial plan and objectives for the region and effectively cascade the strategy and policies
  • As the strategic commercial business partner, you will provide leadership, guidance, and advice to support the delivery teams across the entire lifecycle of our data centre developments, ensuring effective commercial guardrails and strong governance
  • You will resolve complex commercial issues across the region, ensuring a high level of governance and risk management
  • You will negotiate contracts at the highest levels of the business, both domestically and internationally, including the development and management of all contractual strategy and documentation
  • Build and develop a high performing team of commercial professionals across the region

Your Day to Day

  • Implement and maintain performance metrics across all in flight projects
  • Cascade improved commercial strategies, business policies and initiatives to ensure strong commercial governance,
  • Provide risk and governance oversight across the Singapore, Malaysia & Japan regions through commercial and project leadership, providing trusted commercial advice to the Development and Project Directors
  • Develop complex business cases and analysis on procurement/ new market entry / claims resolution to senior management
  • Lead the commercial teams across the region as the first point of escalation for all day-to-day matters for in-flight projects
  • Resolve complex contract interpretation issues and disputes in a creative manner, balancing both parties' objectives and the long-term implications of changes or solutions
  • Drive project cost outcomes and lead commercial lessons learned, innovations, initiatives and continuous improvements aimed at increasing time and costs efficiencies of the delivery of our data centres
  • Review tender packages including developing scope of works, bid templates, tender evaluations, reviews, and recommendations
  • Concurrently oversee multiple projects including new data centre buildings and capital improvement projects associated with existing data centres
  • Travel to data centre sites both domestic and internationally for commercial reviews, resolution of issues and disputes, project initiation/close out, and the like as required.

Requirements

Required:

  • A relevant degree such as Law, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Engineering (or similar) with a minimum of 15 years work experience in the construction industry
  • Strong understanding of commercial and contract management with a sound understanding of contract law
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, contract drafting and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated success in directing and influencing multi‐disciplinary teams, consultants, and contractors to deliver high quality outcomes
  • Demonstrable leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and exposure to online collaboration tools
  • Excellent communication skills in English and have an attention to detail and be able to maintain high quality standards

Preferred:

  • 10 years' experience in a commercial leadership role
  • Demonstrated experience in building and managing a high performing team
  • Experience and/or understanding of fast track design/build projects
  • Has international experience (ideally APAC and Japan) with significant exposure to Contracts +SGD$500m
