About the business and the role

Norstar Steel Recyclers is a well established, privately owned, market leading Victorian business that revolves around the recycling of scrap ferrous & non-ferrous metals, sourced from industrial, commercial and domestic customers, supplying to international and domestic markets.

Dandenong is one of our five sites. This role is required to increase staffing capacity and to enable cross training and staffing flexibility going forwards. It is a team environment with a team of six working together to meet daily work requirements. An initial casual rate is being offered, plus 10.5% superannuation, with permanent placement on offer after a probationary period.

Job tasks and responsibilities

• Excavator, Forklift and some loader operations
• Unloading and placement of metal product
• Perform various yard duties, as required
• Daily machine maintenance & pre-starts
• Ensure the safe & efficient use of machinery at all times

Skills and experience

• Excavator experience and / or ticket
• Basic/entry level excavator experience preferred
• A strong work ethic and the ability to meet deadlines and objectives.
• Current drivers & forklift licenses.
• Front end loader ticket (or we will train)
• The ability to follow instruction & work unsupervised at times
• The ability to perform safe work practices at all times
• The ability to work in a team environment
• Permanent residents or Australian citizens with valid work rights required

Ongoing training, additional licencing and support will be provided until fully competent.

Job benefits and perks

In return of your efforts you will be rewarded with an above industry hourly casual rate of $39.57 per hour, working full time hours, Mondays to Fridays 7:00 am to 4:00 pm plus some overtime & superannuation of 10.5%.
