About the Opportunity

South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) is seeking enthusiastic, dedicated, and professional Radiation Therapists to join our highly skilled Radiotherapy team across Liverpool and Campbelltown Hospitals.

As a valued member of our multidisciplinary team, you will:

  • Deliver safe, high-quality, and patient-centred radiotherapy services.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with colleagues to ensure optimal outcomes for patients.
  • Contribute to education, mentoring, and professional development of staff and students.
  • Engage in quality improvement and research initiatives to advance the service.

Our Radiation Oncology Service spans two comprehensive sites:

  • Campbelltown – 3 Elekta Linacs, Orthovoltage, and Phillips CT.
  • Liverpool – 3 Elekta Linacs, Tomotherapy, Brachytherapy, Orthovoltage, Phillips CT, and a dedicated 3T Siemens MRI.

To maximise development and service delivery, successful candidates will be rostered across both sites.

We are currently welcoming applications for:

Qualified Radiation Therapists – to bring clinical expertise, leadership, and mentoring skills to the team while continuing to grow their own practice.

New Graduate Radiation Therapists – To join our structured 12-month Graduate Program (commencing January 2026), providing exposure to a wide range of radiotherapy techniques and the opportunity to build upon university knowledge in a supportive learning environment. Applicants currently completing their final semester of a Radiation Therapy degree are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility:

  • Completion of a degree in Medical Radiation Science (Radiation Therapy).
  • Eligibility for AHPRA general registration as a Radiation Therapist, as well as NSW EPA Radiation User Licence.

Where You'll Be Working

Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, offering a wide range of state-wide services including critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care, and brain injury rehabilitation. As a key teaching facility for UNSW Sydney and Western Sydney University, it provides extensive clinical services, including emergency care, cancer treatment, paediatrics, and mental health services. The hospital features 23 operating theatres and has a capacity for 877 beds.

The ongoing $830 million redevelopment as part of the Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct is transforming the hospital into a global hub for medical innovation. This redevelopment will expand clinical services, enhance research and teaching facilities, and introduce state-of-the-art equipment and amenities.

How to Apply

  • Successful completion of a degree in Medical Radiation Technology or equivalent qualification recognised by the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMIRT).Full Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Radiation Therapist.Hold a Valid NSW EPA Radiation Licence or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge and experience in all aspects of radiation therapy planning and treatment, with multimodality image verification, conventional and advanced planning and treatment delivery that may include, but not restricted to, 4DCT and 4DCBCT, IMRT and VMAT, SRS and SABR techniques, DIBH and Seed Tracking.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in small teams, self-motivated with initiative and able to cope with dynamic and changing work practices including flexibility in work hours and location.
  • Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills, written and spoken, ability to relate with patients, carers and families, and the various staff groups within the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of radiation therapy quality assurance, radiation safety principles and practices, and participation in incident reporting, site group meetings and adherence to NSW Health policies and guidelines.
