Building Design and Sales Support

Tailored Homes Cairns is a locally based residential builder delivering well-considered homes through a collaborative and organised building process. We're looking for a Building Design and Sales Support team member to work across residential design, documentation, and client support throughout construction.

This role suits someone who enjoys combining building design and drafting with client interaction and sales support, and who takes pride in seeing projects progress from design through to completion.


About the Role

In this role, you'll be responsible for preparing residential designs and supporting the sales and client experience throughout the construction journey.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing residential building designs, concept plans, and working drawings
  • Translating client briefs into functional, buildable design solutions
  • Supporting client meetings, enquiries, and ongoing communication
  • Assisting the sales process through design input, documentation, and follow-ups
  • Managing design revisions, variations, and project documentation
  • Coordinating with building team, suppliers, consultants, and internal teams
  • Assisting with approvals and required submissions
  • Updating designs based on client and construction feedback

What You'll Be Doing Day to Day
  • Preparing and refining residential designs and documentation
  • Supporting clients and the sales team with design input and follow-ups throughout construction
  • Coordinating selections, variations, and associated documentation
  • Liaising with building team, suppliers, and consultants to keep projects progressing
  • Maintaining organised project files, drawings, and records

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence working directly with clients and internal teams
  • Proficiency in residential design and drafting software
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Practical understanding of the residential building process
  • Ability to interpret planning requirements and apply them to designs
  • Professional, solutions-focused approach

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Experience in residential building design or drafting
  • Familiarity with drafting software used for residential construction
  • Experience in a client-facing role within construction, design, or a related industry

Desirable:

  • Experience coordinating approvals or project documentation
  • Formal qualification or training in building design, drafting, or a related field
