About the Role

We are seeking a talented AI/ML Development Lead to spearhead the integration and enhancement of our proprietary AI-driven farm management platform. This role will play a pivotal part in a transformative funded project, working alongside top-tier R&D partners to deliver a world-first digital solution for dairy farm optimisation. You will lead a team of AI/ML developers, software engineers, and UX specialists to integrate real-time data from cutting-edge wearable sensors and drone systems, creating a seamless, scalable solution that drives an increase in milk production and improvement in pasture yields.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI/ML Development: Design and implement advanced AI/ML algorithms to process real-time data from wearable sensors, drones, and digital twin models, optimising pasture management and livestock monitoring.
• System Integration: Collaborate with partner R&D organisations to integrate AI models with existing farm management systems, ensuring compatibility with legacy precision feeding and dairy milking systems.
• Fieldwork & Validation: Oversee fieldwork across model farms in Victoria and Tasmania, validating algorithm accuracy and system performance in diverse commercial settings.
• Team Leadership: Manage a multidisciplinary team of AI developers, software engineers, and UX designers, fostering innovation and ensuring project milestones are met within the timeline.
• Algorithm Optimisation: Enhance machine learning models for pasture classification, body condition scoring, and regional adaptation using satellite and drone data correlations.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with industry partners, including agricultural bodies and technology providers, to ensure the solution meets commercial scalability and user satisfaction goals.

Qualifications

• Experience: 7 years in AI/ML development, with a proven track record in leading complex, data-driven projects. Experience in AgriTech, IoT, or digital twin technologies is highly desirable.
• Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar frameworks, with experience in real-time data processing, edge computing, and algorithm optimisation for low-power devices.
• Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage project timelines, and deliver high-impact solutions in fast-paced environments.
• Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with agricultural systems, precision farming, or livestock management is a plus, but not mandatory.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including farmers, industry bodies, and R&D partners.
• Education: Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Pay range and compensation package

Earn up to AUD 200,000 annually, with additional benefits including professional development opportunities and flexible work arrangements.
