An opportunity exists for an experienced horse trainer to join an established equestrian  business in Perth, You will be working in a fast paced environment where you are expected to cope under pressure and to demonstrate your experience as a horse riding trainer using good communication skills, relationship skills and general equestrian knowledge.

You must be an experienced horse riding trainer, with a track record over a number of years training a variety of horses including those with behavioural problems.

Experience required

3 plus years of experience as a horse riding trainer

Appropriate English or Australian horse training qualifications.

Understanding of equine learning theory in regards to training both verbal and non verbal commands.

Experience in training horses to accept a rider.

The ability to report to clients/management on horses progress and performance therefore excellent communication skills are needed.

The ability to turn out to a high standard including clipping, plaiting, bathing etc

Experience and qualifications in stable management including maintaining a clean living conditions for horses, feeding according to individual needs, maintain health records including vaccinations.

Good first aid knowledge with ability to treat minor injuries in horses and the ability to know when to contact veterinarian and work with them to maintain horse health.

Ability to work unsupervised is essential.

Competition experience necessary to a minimum of Elementary dressage and 1* eventing or 1.10m show jumping or international equivalent.

Job tasks and responsibilities

Caring for a large number of horses to maintain every aspect of their well being with horse welfare being the main focus.

Compiling and training programs for a variety of horses including exraceshorses within our rwwa training program, young horses needing starting and training competition horses for clients. Some coaching may also be necessary of clients on these horses so coaching experience advantageous.

Showing horses for sale through the program to clients.

Turning out competition horses to a high standard as well as competing our young horses.

Getting horses fit to compete up to 5* eventing including providing high levels of after care such as icing legs .

Salary range

$76600 depending on experience
