Don't come for an easy career. Stay for a rewarding one.

At Santos, we do work that matters and always have. When you join us, so will you.

As an ASX 20 global energy company, we're committed to providing reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone.

To make it happen, we work as One Team and ask ourselves, "How can we?" (Even when others say, "We can't.")

We're proud of our history as pioneers, problem-solvers, and pragmatists. And as we strive to achieve our Vision2040, we've got our sights set on a culture that is focussed and disciplined to drive value, and entrepreneurial and energised to leave a positive legacy.

The difference isn't just thinking big – it's delivering on it too.

As part of the team, you'll tackle one of the most complex problems of our time. It's no easy task, but nothing rewarding ever is.

What you'll do:

Based in Brisbane, join us as our Cost Controller for Maintenance & Operations, driving financial accuracy by reviewing transactions and analysing cost data to support decisions, optimising operational efficiency, and taking full ownership of expense management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compiling, validating, and analysing cost data from systems such as SAP and Fieldglass, covering both productive and non-productive spend.
  • Identifying trends, anomalies, and cost-saving opportunities through clear and concise reporting.
  • Generating regular cost reports and dashboards using Spotfire for stakeholders across operations and procurement.
  • Partnering with procurement and operations teams to assess cost efficiency, validate supplier costs, and evaluate the financial impact of changes.
  • Supporting budget planning, cost forecasting, and performance tracking activities.
  • Coordinating with vendors to resolve cost discrepancies and maintain data accuracy.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Santos Management System (SMS), Delegation of Authority (DOA), and Corporate Governance and Safety requirements.

What you'll bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in finance, transactional, or analytical roles.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage complex data sets.
  • Excellent communication and time-management skills to collaborate effectively across teams and meet deadlines.
  • Background in maintenance or operational environments is highly regarded.
  • Advanced reporting and analytical capabilities, including data manipulation, data-driven analysis, and visualisation.
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, financial modelling), PowerPoint, and familiarity with data analysis tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or SQL is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated expertise in budgeting and forecasting to support financial planning.

Desirable

  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA, including projects, purchasing, work management, and accounting functions.

What you'll get:

Here, you'll be amongst high-calibre people and get to work on industry-leading projects. We don't shy away from solving tough problems at pace. We like it that way. You can expect to be challenged and supported; to learn and grow.

At Santos, we're committed to creating a workplace where everyone can thrive. This means a place that is safe; where you are valued and respected, and your contribution is recognised and appreciated. Join us, and you'll play a role in this too.

Each of our sites offer access to specific amenities that aim to create the best possible benefits to your health, wellbeing and performance.

What you're part of:

Everywhere you turn you will be a part of a team who are coming together to contribute to our single uniting purpose - to provide reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone

And because it's not only what you do, but how you do it, you will also contribute to improving the living standards of the communities where we operate, building enduring and respectful relationships that serve a generation. It's about each of us, and all of us – together.
