Role Overview
The Drafting Manager will be responsible for leading and overseeing the drafting team to ensure the delivery of accurate, timely, and high-quality shop drawings for commercial cabinetry projects. This role requires a strong technical background in cabinetry or joinery drafting, excellent leadership skills, and a solutions-focused mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of drafters, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Oversee the preparation of detailed shop drawings and technical documentation for production.
- Coordinate with internal teams including Estimating, Production, and Project Management to ensure alignment and accuracy.
- Maintain drafting standards and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and output quality.
- Review and approve drawings to ensure compliance with project specifications, client requirements, and industry standards.
- Conduct quality checks and resolve technical issues or discrepancies as they arise.
- Manage workflow and project priorities to ensure timely delivery of all drafting outputs.
- Liaise with clients, builders, and site supervisors where necessary to clarify details and resolve design challenges.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a similar drafting leadership role within the cabinetry, joinery, or related industry.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Cabinet Vision, or similar).
- Strong understanding of cabinetry construction methods, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, production-ready drawings.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage team performance and project deadlines.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Trade or tertiary qualification in drafting, design, or related discipline (preferred).
