What's on offer?

We currently have a full-time vacancy for a laboratory technician to join the team at Fulton Hogan based at our Dandenong mix design Laboratory.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the testing of asphalt to Australian standard methods in our NATA accredited Laboratory, your responsibilities will include;

  • Creation of asphalt mix designs within the laboratory.
  • Research and development of sustainable mixes.
  • Performance testing of asphalt mixes.
  • Sampling and testing of asphalt, aggregates and binders.
  • The hands-on, day-to-day testing in accordance with specified requirements.
  • The handling and management of chemicals in line with relevant standards.
  • Reporting, record keeping and calibrations.
  • Conduct procedures safely and maintain good housekeeping of laboratory and surrounds.
  • Maintain the laboratory in accordance with NATA requirements.
  • Some travel will be required, based on the needs of the business.

To be successful in this position you will require the following skills/experience:

  • Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure and achieve strict deadlines.
  • Professional communication, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Honest, confident and reliable.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, quality, punctuality, reliability, respect for others and to work as part of an efficient team.
  • Current and valid Driver's Licence.
  • A degree in civil engineering or similar would be advantageous.
  • Having a demonstrated knowledge of Australian standards for laboratories. You will be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Willingness to work nightshifts and weekends as required.
