The opportunity

We are seeking a Procurement Advisor to join our Energy & Utilities – Water Services team, based in Queensland. Reporting to the Senior Procurement Advisor, you'll support the successful delivery of water infrastructure projects across the Water Program and other regional initiatives.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, high-performing environment, engaging with project, commercial, and operational teams to deliver value-driven procurement outcomes. You'll be part of a business that connects communities to essential services, with the scale and backing of a Tier 1 ASX-listed company.

What you'll do

  • Lead and support procurement strategies, sourcing and contracting activities in line with Downer and client frameworks.
  • Engage suppliers and subcontractors during project development and execution, ensuring transparency and value for money.
  • Collaborate with regional procurement hubs to optimise sourcing outcomes and leverage Downer's buying power.
  • Negotiate supplier and subcontractor agreements, driving commercial and schedule performance.
  • Integrate ESG, sustainability, and supplier diversity initiatives into procurement planning.

What we're looking for

We're seeking a proactive and commercially minded professional who thrives in a fast-paced project environment. You'll bring:

  • 5+ years' experience in procurement within utilities, infrastructure, or resources (water industry experience desirable).
  • Experience in bids and tenders
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in supply chain, commerce, engineering or a related discipline (CIPS accreditation preferred).
  • A collaborative, hands-on approach and commitment to Zero Harm and ethical procurement practices.
