Withdrawal Nurses
Lives Lived Well offer a variety of community and residential Alcohol and Other Drug programs throughout Queensland, New South Wales, and South Australia, helping thousands of people every year to navigate alcohol and other drug (AOD) related challenges and move forward in life.
A new Residential AOD Treatment Facility designed to deliver high-quality, specialist residential AOD treatment services for adults aged 18 years and over is opening in Ipswich. The centre will provide a total of 46 beds, comprising 36 beds for residential rehabilitation and 10 beds for withdrawal management and care.
The service opens in November, and we are looking for Registered Nurses with a passion for supporting individuals through the early stages of recovery from AOD dependency to join our team mid-October
Your Opportunity
As a Withdrawal Nurse, you'll be at the heart of our dedicated 10-bed detox unit, supporting clients as they take positive steps toward recovery. From managing medical needs to guiding clients through their transition into residential rehabilitation, you'll play a key role in helping people reduce their substance use and take meaningful steps toward a healthier, more hopeful future.
We have several full time and part time vacancies, all of which will be a mixture of morning, afternoon, and overnight (stand up) shifts on a 24/7 roster. You will need to be available to cover a variety of shifts – rosters are provided 4 weeks in advance.
Hourly rate is between $54-58 per hour and we will provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
LLW is proud to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and diverse communities. We invite you to apply and help us build a workplace that reflects and respects our shared values.
What we are looking for
Bringing experience in the AOD, Mental Health or Aged Care sector – you will have the clinical knowledge to support clients undergoing mild-to-moderate AOD withdrawal and support early stages of their recovery journey. Key clinical duties include:
· Conducting clinical assessments and delivering targeted nursing interventions including GP referrals and liaising with pharmacists
· Providing intake support and transition of clients into the Withdrawal Unit including assessment and development of care plans
· Deliver holistic, person-centred care that supports clients to stay engaged, motivated, and committed to their recovery journey
· Medication management including documentation and governance
· Managing regular Nurse Clinics including client check-ups and medication review
· We operate under the Aged Care legislation so an understanding of this model would be beneficial
You will need to have a tertiary qualification in Nursing and hold current AHPRA registration.
Coupled with your clinical skill set, you will also have:
- An understanding of how withdrawal and residential live-in services work and be comfortable in this environment, which can include challenging situations
- Excellent rapport building skills – you'll be liaising with both internal and external stakeholders, so strong working relationships are important
- A genuine dedication to helping people to reduce their substance use and improve their life journey
- A flexible, open, and engaging approach – you'll be working with a range of clients with differing needs and complexities
- A respectful, inclusive approach and experience working with diverse communities, including people from CALD backgrounds and indigenous populations
- Good computer skills and ability to manage administrative tasks, including adding documentation to our CRM (HIVE) and medical system (HELIX)
- Flexibility and commitment to working a 24/7 roster pattern
You'll also resonate with our values, and evidence them in your day to day working life:
- We are humble, human, and full of hope
- We show up and share
- We ask "Why not" and "What's next?"
- We leave a positive wake
Benefits of Working with us
This a great opportunity to be at the forefront of an essential new service for people requiring drug and alcohol support. A chance to be part of a high-functioning, highly motivated and passionate team, who are dedicated to providing the best support they can. Whether you're working mornings, afternoons or overnight, you'll have access to training, study leave, and development opportunities. We focus on evidence-based care and clinical excellence, so you'll be supported to build your skills and grow your career as we grow too.
We also offer:
· Flexible 24/7 roster with a mix of morning, afternoon, and overnight (stand up) shifts – ideal for those who prefer variety or need to balance other commitments
· Rosters provided 4 weeks in advance, giving you more time to plan your life outside of work
· Free on-site parking for all staff, making your commute easier and more convenient
· Fitness Passport with discounted access for fitness and leisure centres across Australia
· Continuous access to professional development opportunities to support your career growth – no matter your shift pattern
· Regular clinical supervision, case conferencing and debriefings and a Nursing Community of Practice and buddy for ongoing support
· Both paid and unpaid Cultural Leave for special days and events
· Active commitment to continuous learning and improvement of our DEI initiatives and commitment to delivering our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)
