Our training yard is a vital part of our operations, and we are currently seeking a motivated and reliable Yardsman to join our team.

Position Overview

The Yardsman is responsible for the daily upkeep, setup, and operation of the training yard and facilities. This includes maintaining a safe and clean environment, preparing machinery and training equipment, and assisting with general maintenance and logistical tasks. The ideal candidate will also assist in the operation of cranes, dogging tasks, and civil machinery operations during relevant courses.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations & Maintenance

• Open and secure the training premises, external classrooms, and containers.
• Maintain cleanliness in shared facilities including kitchens, fridges, toilets, and classrooms.
• Restock consumables such as cups, biscuits, water bottles, and toiletries for.
• Empty all bins and ensure the fridge is cleared from the previous day.
• Minimum 1-2 years experience as a yardsman is required.

Yard and Facility Maintenance

• Whipper snipping and weed spraying as required.
• Maintain stock levels across the site.
• Supervise and tidy classrooms based on scheduled class sizes.
• Ensure adequate stationary is provided.

Course Preparation and Support

• Set up machinery and check fuel levels in preparation for daily training courses.
• Ensure 4WD pit is adequately wet for course use.
• Charge power tool batteries for rigging and other equipment.
• Operate machinery as part of training demonstrations or student assessments.

General Repairs and Safety

• Identify and fix minor faults in machinery and infrastructure.
• Monitor and report any maintenance needs or safety hazards.
• Ensure the premises are securely locked at the end of the day.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Desirable (Preferred but not mandatory):

• Crane Operator licence (preferably C6)
• Dogging qualification (DG)
• Experience operating civil machinery (excavators, skid steers, etc.)
• Australian citizenship is required for this position.
