Want to bring ideas to life?
Aurecon is a design, engineering and advisory company, but not as you know it
Drawing on our deep pool of technical and advisory expertise, we co-create innovative solutions with our clients to some of the world's most complex challenges. And through a range of unique creative processes and skills, we work to re-imagine, shape and design a better future.
How will your ideas contribute to shaping what's next?
As a Senior Urban Planner, you will join our Environment and Planning team in Melbourne, building on the team's recent successes across infrastructure, transport, and energy projects. In this role, you will manage, advise, and secure planning and environmental approvals for key government and private sector clients, while also contributing to the growth of Aurecon's Environment and Planning practice. Here's how you will help us 'bring ideas to life':
- Lead projects by preparing fee proposals and tender submissions, assessing and reporting on technical documentation, managing sub-consultants, and guiding multi-disciplinary teams to deliver successful outcomes
- Engage with internal and external clients, providing practical and strategic advice that meets their needs
- Collaborate across Aurecon to leverage our technical expertise and deliver integrated planning solutions
- Build on your stakeholder relationships and networks to achieve positive results for clients and generate new opportunities
- Share your knowledge and experience to support the development of others, with opportunities to take on a people leadership role
At Aurecon, we know today's challenges can only be solved by bringing together diverse teams. You'll have the opportunity to apply your skills and creativity to projects across different geographies and markets, shaping solutions that make a real impact.
What can you bring to the team?
With knowledge in areas such as land use planning, approvals or environmental assessment, you'll contribute to major infrastructure and precinct developments while learning from industry experts. This is your opportunity to grow your skills, make an impact, and help bring bold ideas to life.
You're someone who embraces continuous learning to shape the future, with at least two years of experience. To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Experience across project phases, particularly in planning, feasibility, approvals and project management
- The ability to build strong client and team relationships, with an interest in mentoring others
- Skills in identifying planning opportunities, constraints and approval pathways for infrastructure projects
- Strong communication, problem-solving and presentation skills to work across diverse sectors
- Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams
- A degree in urban or environmental planning, urban design, or a related field
What can you bring to the team?
You will share our passion for planning in today's dynamic environment and be committed to continuous learning to help shape the future. As an experienced professional, you thrive in leadership, networking, and project delivery, with strong technical expertise in regulatory planning frameworks and a proven ability to navigate them across infrastructure, land use planning, regulatory agencies, and private development. You will also hold a relevant qualification in Urban Planning (or related discipline) and demonstrate:
- Strong interest in supporting major projects, including working alongside clients in project offices (where practicable)
- Advanced understanding of Commonwealth, State, and local government decision drivers to inform planning and environmental approvals
- Proven ability to provide planning advice for complex projects, with clear understanding of approval timeframes and their alignment with project delivery programs
- Solid project management skills, with experience delivering projects on time and within budget, while managing multiple priorities
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients, stakeholders, and decision-makers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing and presenting planning reports and advice
How will your future be shaped by us?
Join Aurecon and work at the forefront of innovation and sustainability. We champion inclusivity, flexibility and career growth, supporting you with mentoring, training and wellbeing programs. Make an impact while bringing your whole self to work.
