Role description:
The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for complex electrical designs across the APAC region. You will work within a multidisciplinary engineering team (Electrical, Mechanical, Controls/SCADA) and play a key technical role on mining, power generation and hybrid/renewable projects. The role is hands-on, with strong focus on studies, design quality, and mentoring junior engineers, contributing directly to the energy transition in the region.Responsibilities
  • Take technical ownership of electrical scope from concept through to commissioning, supporting factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities
  • Deliver detailed electrical designs for mining and power generation projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations
  • Develop HV substation designs, earthing designs and studies and prepare single line diagrams, schematics, cable schedules, specifications and cost estimates
  • Work closely with controls and SCADA engineers to ensure holistic, integrated power generation solutions.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, project managers, suppliers and contractors to ensure successful delivery.
  • Use simulation tools such as PowerFactory and CDEGS (or equivalent) to model electrical systems and assess performance.
  • Perform power system studies utilising PowerFactory and CDEGS (or equivalent) to validate design assumptions, identify risks and optimise system performance
  • Produce clear, concise technical reports and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Implement safety standards and risk management practices to ensure all designs and installations are secure and compliant.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, delivering technical presentations and reports.
You'll have the following skills and experience: 
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering;
  • Ideally a minimum of 7 years in electrical design for mining and power generation, with a strong understanding of Australian standards.
  • Proficiency in HV substation design, earthing studies, and simulation tools like PowerFactory and CDEGS.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage team dynamics and stakeholder expectations.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with clients and stakeholders.
