The Global
Data Operations Team (DataOps)
develops engineering tools specialized for oncalls to drive efficiency in Data Operations across Client data warehouses. Our primary responsibility is to provide 24/7 Data Operations as a Service for data engineers, data scientists and software engineers. We work on improving reliability, scalability and efficiency of data pipelines by engineering solutions to monitor, alert and auto-remediate issues. We use a lot of internal Customer tools and frameworks to accomplish these engineering tasks.
DataOps Responsibilities:
- You will be part of the global Data Operations team
- You will be working closely with Data Engineers, Software Engineers and Data Infrastructure Engineers.
- You will be providing Level 1 operation support for thousands of data pipelines.
- You will be operating within Client enterprise domain using internally developed tools including but not limited to:
- OpsCenter: a centralized control center which provides 24/7 visibility and support from DataOps engineers to Data Engineering teams.
- Dataswarm: Client's platform for authoring, scheduling, and running data pipelines.
- Central Data Management system: an interactive tool for monitoring data.
- You will be part of the on-call rotation in the globally distributed team which uses the "Follow the Sun" model.
- You will work with Data and always look for process optimization as well as identifying new patterns for auto remediation as an input for ML and auto-remediation.
- You are also thrilled at the prospect of building strong relationships with customers (internal Data Engineering groups), solving operational issues and implementing quality improvements to the base tools that make them better suited for customer's needs.
IES Responsibilities:
- After familiarizing yourself with DataOps support, you'll have the opportunity to dedicate 50% of your time to Infrastructure Engineering Support (IES).
- IES enhances the experience of Meta's infrastructure product teams by offering expert support and tooling, ultimately reducing their operational workload and increasing engineering productivity.
- You will be working closely with Meta's internal engineering teams supporting key enterprise applications and development platforms.
- Serve as the first point of contact for resolving engineering inquiries and requests.
- Act as a subject matter expert on various products and tools to aid and improve Meta's engineering productivity.
- Leverage the knowledge and experience for continuous improvement of Meta's products and platforms.
- Communicate (verbally / writing posts), build strong relationships with our partner teams, and deliver quality service.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent field
- Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt, learn new skill sets, and understand operational challenges
- SQL programming experience with good understanding of BI and Data Warehousing concepts (ETL, OLAP vs. OLTP, Slowly Changing Dimensions)
- Basic fluency with development tools (Python, SQL, PHP, JavaScript, or similar)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational skills with a clear focus under pressure
- Proactive with proven ability to execute on multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including relationship building with diverse, global, cross-functional teams
- Good understanding of process automation with proven ability to troubleshoot and problem solve in complex systems
- Ability to work in rapidly changing environment and quickly learn new technologies
- Ability to quickly assess, analyse, and resolve/troubleshoot issues, and communicate findings clearly and concisely
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience Business Intelligence visualization tools e.g. Tableau, Power BI
- Proven experience working in operations/support roles or other technical roles.
- Interest in continuous technical training and career growth.
