ABOUT THE BRANCH

The Communications Branch provides advice and assistance on the department's internal and external communication activities, including management of key intranet and external websites.

It is also responsible for the whole-of-Government co-ordination of advertising campaigns including governance, procurement arrangements and campaign development support.

The Communications Advice section provides policy advice on the Government's information and advertising framework and assists with the co-ordination and development of whole-of-government advertising campaigns. We provide advice to entities on:

  • the development and implementation of campaigns;
  • communications best practice and;
  • mandatory campaign advertising governance arrangements.
The key duties of the position include:

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an exciting opportunity to support the development and co-ordination of campaigns delivered by the Australian Government. You will be working with departments across government providing advice on all aspects of campaign development support and evaluation, including advice on governance and contract management.

Leading a small team, you will have a high level of autonomy, be involved in all aspects of campaign development support and governance; and take a leading role in briefing Government and other senior stakeholders on campaign development, governance and best practice communications.

In this role, you will:

  • Support departments on the full range of campaigns from awareness, entitlement and policy focused campaigns through to social marketing and behaviour change campaigns.
  • Support the management and procurement of consultants from creative, market research, public relations, media, multicultural and First Nations specialist agencies.
  • Foster good working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders across Government including campaign managers, policy officers and senior public officials.
  • Deliver best practice communications advice on campaign development and evaluation.

Eligibility
  • Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing.
  • Successful applicants will be required to undergo the process to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold the required security clearance level for the role as indicated in the downloadable job pack. All Finance staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance prior to commencement.
