About the role

As our next Heavy Leading Hand Diesel Fitter to proudly represent our Maintenance Team, you will live for challenges and thrive on the variety of work available. Like all of us at Thiess, you're a passionate and energetic person, that appreciates responsibility, recognition and reward.

Yilgarn Iron Ore Project includes the sites of Koolyanobbing, Windarling and Parker Range. The Yilgarn region has a long history of iron ore mining and is located in the Shires or Yilgarn and Menzies with ore being railed to Esperance Port for export. The productive mining areas are located on the land of the Marlinyu Ghoorlie Native Title Group.

Located in the Shire of Yilgarn, Western Australia, 54 km north-northeast of the town of Southern Cross, on a14/7 FIFO roster, you will thrive on meeting all goals and challenges, and act with fairness and integrity in all that you do.  

In this role, you will:

• Leadership of skilled mobile maintenance team following managers and supervisors directives 
• Perform the servicing, repair and maintenance of equipment as directed in accordance with Thiess servicing, lubrication and maintenance systems documentation 
• Source technical information from the relevant available reference manuals, technical bulletins, and computer based systems 
• Provide technical information to staff and operations personnel 
• Source and requisition parts and / or equipment requirements through the appropriate manuals or publications using the correct ordering procedure 
• Verify the implementation of solutions and/or control further non-conforming machinery until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected

About you

• Cert III in Heavy Diesel Fitting or equivalent  
• At least 5 years mining experience with exposure to leading or supervision of mobile maintenance HD Fitters 
• Possess a positive leadership style, with exceptional time-management skills and the ability to pivot around priorities while providing guidance, assistance, and supervision to the maintenance team.
• Manage performance, planning servicing, repair and preventative maintenance heavy mobile mining equipment.
• Ensure work health and safety policies and procedures are adhered to
• Ensure all required paperwork is completed to a high standard by tradespeople
• Must be proactive in the workplace to ensure quality work is being completed
• High Risk Work Licences Advantageous – WP, LF and Rigging
