About the opportunity

Maternity leave cover for ANUM position on D3. This is an exciting opportunity to increase your leadership skills and experience being a part of the nurse leadership team. Work with and assist the Nurse Unit Manager in the shift by shift running and management of a dynamic fast paced medical surgical ward

An Associate Nurse Unit Manager at Mercy Health oversees the daily operations of a nursing unit, including staff supervision, patient care coordination, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. They collaborate with nurse unit managers and healthcare teams to maintain high-quality patient care standards, resolve issues, and support the overall functioning of the unit.

  • Be a professional role model and mentor cultivating a positive team environment

  • Demonstrated a high standard of clinical knowledge, assessment skills and commitment to clinical excellence.

  • Have a high level of interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal with experience in managing difficult circumstance.

  • Engagement with all key stakeholders to ensure the best clinical outcome and experience for patients and their families.

  • Demonstrated appetite for innovation and change while practicing within the Mercy core values.

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum 2 years recent experience on an acute ward in Australia (essential).

  • Previous management experience desirable.

  • Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.

  • A compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management.

  • The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
