Financial Accountant

Position Overview

Play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing insightful financial reports, and supporting business decision-making. This position sees you as part of the management team to ensure financial integrity, cost control, and performance tracking across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
  • Conduct general ledger reconciliations; ensure account accuracy.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Prepare and lodge BAS, payroll tax, and other statutory compliance reports.
  • Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Monitor and analyse accounting data to generate business insights.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
  • Reconcile bank accounts; oversee accounts payable/receivable.
  • Lead with inventory costing, stock reconciliations, and cost control.
  • Provide financial input for ad hoc projects and business initiatives.

Abou You

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or CA qualification (or currently working towards it).
  • 4 + years of experience in a similar accounting role
  • Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and compliance.
  • Proficiency in MYOB, Xero, or similar platforms (ERP experience is a bonus).
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modelling).
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting
