Who could you be at GHD?

Our two-year Graduate Development Program is designed to give you a smooth start to your consulting career. Alongside your peers, managers and mentors, we'll help you detangle any challenges along the way. 

What will you do in the role?

• Rail engineering and design including track and formation, electrification, signalling and systems
• Learn and utilise technology and software to deliver projects
• Learn to use systems engineering principles to deliver efficient and effective designs
• Multidisciplinary interface and coordination with other engineering disciplines associated with rail infrastructure projects including geotechnical, structural, architecture etc
• Connect in with a wider team of professionals to share insights, knowledge and improve your overall technical capabilities

We're looking for individuals who:

• Has recently graduated, or will graduate at the end of the year with a degree in Civil Engineering
• Are passionate about the consulting industry and engineering profession
• Strong communication teamwork and communication skills
• Any prior experience in an engineering environment will be highly regarded.

Here's what to expect, step by step:

• Screening: We review applications as they come in, but be mindful that the bulk of our screening happens after applications close, so don't worry if you don't hear from us right away. 
• Video interviews: If you make it through the first stage, you'll record some answers to a few straightforward questions. This helps us get a sense of your communication style and what excites you about GHD.
• Meet the team: Next, you'll have a face-to-face or virtual interview with your prospective team. We'll chat through some behavioural based questions to learn more about your skills and experience. It's also a chance for you to get to know us
• Psychometric assessments: These quick tests give us a glimpse into how you like to work and your strengths in relation to the role, complementing what we learn during your interview.
• Offer: Congratulations If you're successful, we'll talk through all the finer details, like salary, your start date, and our background checking process.

Most of our full-time roles kick off in February 2026, though some teams might have earlier start dates in mid-2025. Plus, there might also be casual work opportunities throughout your final year of study to give you a head start.
