Salary range: $91,138 per annum + 13.5% superannuation.  
About the role

This role leads daily arboriculture operations, supervising field staff and contractors to deliver safe and efficient tree maintenance, planting and removal programs. The role ensures work is prioritised by risk, supports best‑practice arboricultural standards, manages safety and training requirements, and works closely with internal teams, contractors and the community.

Role accountabilities include: 

  • Oversee planning, scheduling and delivery of tree‑related work across the City.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS procedures, Safe Work Method Statements and equipment safety standards.
  • Manage equipment needs, maintenance schedules and business cases for new plant and tools.
  • Support accurate asset management by maintaining up‑to‑date arboriculture records and promoting the use of digital systems.

About you
A suitable candidate has experience with urban tree care and understands safe work practices. Strong teamwork and communication skills are important, along with the ability to plan daily tasks and manage resources. Confidence using asset management systems and a commitment to the City's values and behaviour standards are also expected.
 
What you will bring:
  • Diploma in Arboriculture or demonstrated extensive knowledge, skills and experience managing high risk and complex operational teams and coordinating high quality arboricultural work in a public setting.
  • Qualification in Quantified Tree Risk Assessment (QTRA) demonstrating advanced capability in risk evaluation and decision-making.
  • Demonstrated experience in frontline leadership, including oversight of daily operations, staff coordination, and performance management.

  • Working with Vulnerable People Card

Desirable

  • Completed Subject Matter Expert (SME) training, particularly in high-risk plant and equipment operations, ensuring staff are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform safely and effectively.
  • Trained in Verification of Competency (VoC) assessments for staff operating high-risk machinery, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and organisational procedures.
  • Completion of leadership training.
  • Current Medium Rigid License.
  • Traffic Management Implementer 1 (TMI1).
  • Chainsaw and Tree Felling Licenses.
  • Work Safely at Heights.
  • EWP controlled Descent Escape and Perform EWP Rescue.
  • High Risk Work License
