We're building Audit Pilot a first of its kind SaaS platform designed to simplify and automate for the entire health care industry and we need you to help lead this transformation.

The Opportunity
This isn't just another senior dev role. This is a founding-engineer, product-shaping, industry-changing mission.

Location: Melbourne (Hybrid / Remote-friendly within Australian time zones)

What You'll Do

  • Architect, build, and scale backend services from scratch
  • Own DevOps, CI/CD, automation, security, and cloud infrastructure
  • Design async and concurrent systems powering a high-growth SaaS
  • Collaborate with product and engineering to shape the MVP and roadmap
  • Implement best practices across testing, observability, and performance
  • Mentor engineers as the team grows

Primary Requirements

  • At least 8 years of professional experience in backend development.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and build backend systems from the ground up using TypeScript and/or Python.
  • TypeScript experience is essential.
  • Hands-on production experience working with async and concurrent processing systems.
  • Strong background in API design and integration, including REST and GraphQL.
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions on AWS.
  • A solid system design mindset, with emphasis on performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Strong capability in code reviews and in communicating backend concepts clearly to the team.
  • Working knowledge of agile development practices. Prior experience leading a high-performing remote engineering team.
  • Familiarity with:
  • AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor)
  • LLM integration, including function calling and prompt engineering
  • OpenAI and Anthropic APIs

Secondary Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is preferred, but not essential.
  • A portfolio showcasing relevant work or contributions to open-source projects is an advantage, though not required.
  • Experience managing or operating SaaS applications on AWS is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Background working in healthcare services or other regulated industries is a plus, but not required.
