About the position:
The Men's Practitioner will be responsible for the delivery of the KWY Taikurtirna Tirra -apinthi (TTa) Making Families Safer Program. The Taikurtirna Tirra -apinthi Program is a culturally responsive, trauma-informed, family focused approach to reduce the number of Aboriginal children entering out-of-home care. The Taikurtirna Tirra-apinthi Program is based on the understanding that it is in the child's best interest to remain in the care of their family if it is a safe option.
The Men's Practitioner will provide individualised intensive, therapeutic support, connection to support services and community, and advocacy with adult males and possibly with adolescent males in the family to improve safety and parenting skills. 12 Months Contract.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide complex case management responses for individual clients.
Undertake risk assessments and safety planning.
- Establish, build and maintain strong relationships with the males in the program.
- Working within a team under the direction of the Program Coordinator and Senior Manager.
- Development and implementation of quality case plans.
- Be proactive in advocating on behalf of individuals and liaise regularly with other service providers for a collaborative approach in supporting clients.
- Administrative tasks and record keeping.
- Assists in the production of reports regarding program progress and results.
- Promote and implement quality service responses that are underpinned and informed by KWY values and service delivery model.
- Be aware of Aboriginal cultural practices and/or differences and seek cultural consultation to promote inclusive practice.
- Ensure that all clients' contact and engagement is appropriately documented and recorded on the data management system
About you:
The successful applicant will possess skills, experience, and knowledge in working with Aboriginal people to address Child Protection and Domestic and Family Violence concerns. The applicant will operate within a therapeutic, trauma-informed framework. The applicant would have demonstrated knowledge of case management and working with Aboriginal families.

- Competitive salary: $100,776 - $ 105,340 (range dependent on experience and qualifications). Classification under the SCHADS Award Level 5.

Job requirements:
- You must hold a current South Australian Driver's License or a license which permits you to drive in South Australia.
- Successful candidates will be required to clear and maintain probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check (Police Clearance), Working with Vulnerable People Check and Working with Children Check (applicants need to hold a current WWCC to apply).
Desirable:
- Strong understanding of Narrative Principles of practice with emphasis on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities.
