About Bis at Karara

Bis has proudly partnered with Karara Mining, located approximately 200 km southeast of Geraldton, WA. Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West region, offering a stable, well-resourced, and innovative work environment.

At Karara, Bis operates a mobile Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) — a first-of-its-kind system in Australia. This mobile TSF plays a key role in sustainable mining, managing approximately 9 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of dry stack tailings. The system operates 24/7 and is designed to safely and efficiently transport tailings material at an average rate of 2,000 tonnes per hour.

About the Roles

These roles are integral to maintaining our modern mobile plant fleet that supports the mobile TSF operation — ensuring our equipment runs safely, reliably, and efficiently. You'll join a supportive, safety-driven environment where your skills are valued, your growth is encouraged, and your contribution makes a real impact on a truly unique mining project.

What You'll Need:

  • Certificate III in Heavy Vehicle Diesel Fitting (or equivalent)
  • Mine site experience (mandatory)
  • White Card, Confined Space, and Working at Heights tickets
  • Valid Driver's Licence and full Australian work rights
  • Strong mechanical diagnostic skills and commitment to safety
  • Welding and auto-electrical experience (advantageous)

Additional for Leading Hand:

  • S26 Statutory Supervisor certification (mandatory)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a mining environment
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

  • Dozers – CAT D6 / D9
  • Dump Trucks – CAT 777 / Komatsu 785
  • LV/SME Fleet and Fixed Plant (Leading Hand scope)
