About the role

  • Lead the delivery of direct tax compliance and risk management requirements, including planning and prioritising initiatives to maximise value and achieve goals.
  • Develop direct tax strategies, objectives and priorities, in conjunction with the General Manager Tax and with ongoing input from the team.
  • Provide direct tax advice to the business, including contract reviews, risk assessment, and commercial guidance.
  • Support tax assurance services, contributing to best practice tax risk management systems, programs, and frameworks.
  • Influence and advise Finance colleagues on direct tax accounting requirements, including tax effect accounting.
  • Provide peer review support on direct tax technical matters.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, monitor and influence legislative or regulatory changes affecting Allianz Australia and prepare the business for impacts.
  • Offer insights and solutions-based advice on emerging direct tax issues to mitigate risk.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • 10+ years' experience in direct income tax, either in industry or professional services.
  • Financial services industry knowledge: insurance-specific experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical and interpretive skills to support informed decision-making.
  • Ability to assess business risk and implement effective controls.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing capabilities.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • A passion for leveraging emerging technologies to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
