About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Master to join our Cairns-based marine operations team. This full-time position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our vessels throughout the Great Barrier Reef region. The successful candidate will lead day-to-day operations, ensure full compliance with safety and environmental standards, and oversee crew leadership, vessel performance, and maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely navigate and operate the vessel in compliance with AMSA and company requirements.
- Oversee and manage all onboard mechanical systems and vessel operations.
- Implement and maintain safety procedures, including emergency response management, to ensure the Welfare of all passengers and crew.
- Manage logistics including itineraries, port calls, scheduling, fuel, and supplies.
- Deliver outstanding guest experiences, ensuring passenger safety, comfort, and enjoyment throughout their journey.
- Ensure guests enjoy a safe, comfortable, and memorable onboard experience, both at sea and during excursions.
- Lead, mentor and supervise crew to maintain high operational standards and customer service.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and compliance documentation
Qualifications & Requirements
- Current MAR40320 Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Master up to 45 metres Near Coastal).
- Current Certificate III in Maritime Operations (Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 Near Coastal).
- Diving Knowledge (Desirable)
- Demonstrated experience in vessel operations, navigation, and safety management.
- Strong leadership and crew management skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to providing exceptional guest service.
- Must be flexible to working a 7 day roster with overnight stays on the reef
- Excellent navigation and vessel handling abilities.
- Good understanding of safety standards and regulatory compliance.
